Speaking for myself, I'm used to british english. Whenever I'm not sure about a word's pronunciation, I use Macmillan dictionary to listen its pronunciation. Then I imitate untill it's perfectly fine.
Concerning very similar words like bitch and beach, the slightly difference is in the duration while you are pronouncing the "i" sound. The same thing happens with other words with "i" and double "ee", like ship - sheep. The sound is pretty much like this: ship (ship) - shiiiiip (sheep). Listen to Macmillan's pronunciation of these two words and you'll get the small difference.
